Tax Help, IRS Resolution and Bookkeeping for Kentucky
Latorre & Company serves Kentucky families and small businesses in Louisville, Lexington and across the state, in English and Spanish, by phone, video and WhatsApp.
How we serve Kentucky
We service Kentucky from our office in Matthews, North Carolina, where the firm has worked with Hispanic families and business owners since 1997. Kentucky clients get the same team and the same process as the clients who walk through our door: a free consultation by phone or video, documents sent through our secure portal, and a bilingual accountant who answers your calls and your WhatsApp messages.
Most of what a small business needs from its accountant never requires a meeting in person. Monthly books, payroll runs, quarterly estimates and an IRS case all move on documents and phone calls, and that is how we run them for clients outside the Charlotte area.
IRS problems are where distance matters least. The IRS is a federal agency, and our enrolled agents are admitted to practice before it for taxpayers in every state. Through our Tax Pitbull tax resolution service, a Kentucky client with back taxes, unfiled years or a levy notice gets the same representation as a client down the street from our office.

Louisville and Lexington
Accounting and tax help in Louisville
Jefferson County is home to about 67,000 Hispanic residents, roughly 8.6% of Louisville Metro, and that number grew about 61% between the Census Bureau’s 2015–2019 and 2020–2024 surveys. Many of those families own small businesses that need books, payroll and a tax return every year, and want an accountant who works in Spanish.
A Louisville business owner deals with one more layer than most: the Louisville Metro occupational license tax, 2.2% of wages and net profit, collected by the Louisville Metro Revenue Commission. Employers withhold it from paychecks and report it on Form W-1, and the business files a net profit return, Form OL-3, each spring.
Accounting and tax help in Lexington
Fayette County has about 31,000 Hispanic residents, close to 9.5% of the county and well above the statewide share, up about a third between the same two Census surveys. For a Spanish-speaking owner, the hardest part of staying current with the IRS, the state and the city is often finding an accountant who explains it in their own language.
In Lexington the local layer is the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government occupational license fee, 2.25% of wages earned in the county and of business net profit. Every business, including a one-person LLC or sole proprietor, files Form 228 each year with the LFUCG Division of Revenue, with a $100 minimum fee.
Kentucky taxes a small business should know
Kentucky has a flat state income tax: 4% for 2025 returns and 3.5% starting with tax year 2026. Returns are due April 15, and a valid federal extension also extends the Kentucky return, though it extends the time to file, not the time to pay.
LLCs and corporations also owe the Limited Liability Entity Tax, which for most small businesses is the $175 minimum. Sales tax is 6% statewide with no local add-on, filed monthly, quarterly or annually depending on what the Department of Revenue assigns.
Owing the state is its own problem, separate from the IRS. The Kentucky Department of Revenue sends a certified final notice before seizure, then can file a lien in your county, levy wages and bank accounts, and take refunds. A 25% collection fee is added to a bill that stays unpaid for 60 days.
The Department does offer installment plans and an Offer in Settlement program, and its power of attorney form accepts an IRS enrolled agent as your representative. The sooner a notice is answered, the more options are still open.

What Our Clients Say
Real reviews from our Google listing, quoted word for word. Spanish reviews are shown as written.
“I can’t thank this accounting team enough. They first helped me in 2015 with a critical business matter that changed the course of my future. Then, in early 2026, I returned with overwhelming accounting and corporate issues that I truly didn’t think I could overcome.
They guided me every step of the way, and I followed their advice. Today, I’m finally dissolving a corporation that had been a nightmare for years. I can finally breathe again, close this chapter, and move forward knowing my sons have a brighter future.
If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated team, I highly recommend them!”
