Tax Preparation in Louisville, KY
Federal, Kentucky and Louisville Metro returns for families and small businesses, prepared in English or Spanish and handled by phone, video and WhatsApp.
Three returns, one preparer
Tax preparation in Louisville often means more than one return. A working family files a federal return and a Kentucky return, and a business owner adds a Louisville Metro net profit return on top of both.
Latorre & Company prepares all three in the same file, so the numbers agree from one return to the next. The firm has worked with Hispanic families and business owners since 1997, and our team includes enrolled agents admitted to practice before the IRS.
We serve Louisville from our office in Matthews, North Carolina. You never need to travel: documents come in through our secure portal and you review the return with your preparer by video before anything is filed.
What we prepare for Louisville clients
- Federal and Kentucky returns. Prepared, reviewed by a second person and e-filed, with confirmation when each one is accepted.
- Louisville Metro net profit returns. Form OL-3 for businesses, built from the same books as the federal return.
- Business returns. Sole proprietors, LLCs, partnerships and corporations, including the Kentucky Limited Liability Entity Tax.
- ITIN applications and renewals. Form W-7 prepared with the return it has to be attached to.
- Prior-year and amended returns. Years that were never filed, and corrections to returns someone else prepared.
- Moves between states. Part-year and nonresident returns for anyone who came to Kentucky during the year.

Louisville taxes to plan for
Living or working in Louisville adds a city layer: an occupational license tax of 2.2% for residents and local businesses, or 1.45% if you live elsewhere and commute in. For a paycheck it comes out automatically, which is why most employees never see a separate Louisville form.
Owners are the exception. Their OL-3 goes to the Louisville Metro Revenue Commission by April 15 in a normal calendar year, and the profit it reports has to tie out to the federal and Kentucky returns, which is easiest when one preparer builds all three.
Kentucky rates and deadlines
The state rate is the same for everyone: 4% on 2025 income, dropping to 3.5% for 2026. Kentucky accepts your federal extension, but any tax owed is still due on April 15, so an extension buys time for paperwork, not for payment.
If your company is an LLC or a corporation, plan for the Limited Liability Entity Tax as well, usually the $175 minimum for a small business. When an older year has already become a balance due, our Tax Pitbull resolution team works in the same office as your preparer.

Louisville tax preparation questions
Yes. We prepare the federal return and the Kentucky return together, and for businesses the Louisville Metro net profit return as well. Each one is reviewed by a second person before you sign it.
If you only earn wages, your employer withholds the 2.2% occupational license tax from your paycheck and reports it on Form W-1. If you own a business, the business files a net profit return, Form OL-3, with the Louisville Metro Revenue Commission each spring.

It depends on the forms in your return, not on the size of your refund. We look at your documents and quote the fee before any work starts.
Usually a part-year return for each state you lived in, plus your federal return. We prepare part-year and nonresident returns, so both states are handled in the same file.

What Our Clients Say
Real reviews from our Google listing, quoted word for word. Spanish reviews are shown as written.
“I can’t thank this accounting team enough. They first helped me in 2015 with a critical business matter that changed the course of my future. Then, in early 2026, I returned with overwhelming accounting and corporate issues that I truly didn’t think I could overcome.
They guided me every step of the way, and I followed their advice. Today, I’m finally dissolving a corporation that had been a nightmare for years. I can finally breathe again, close this chapter, and move forward knowing my sons have a brighter future.
If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated team, I highly recommend them!”
